The Boston 48 Hour Film Project
What Happened During Your Weekend?
The Boston filmmakers share stories from their wild weekend of filmmaking. (Blogging ended shortly after the filmmaking weekend.)
El Loco Ojo
We had a blast! We fell a solid 8 hours behind when we decided to build an entire enclosed Martian bar in our kitchen/dining room by covering everything in silvery tablecloths from iParty. Still, we got it done, with slightly less ambitious post effects and audio. Good times!

Missed the deadline
The 2013 48HFP:Boston was bittersweet for our team, Broken Compass Videos.
On one hand we made a good film compared to our other entries in years past. On the other, as we have improved our skills we have become more critical of our work.
We wanted to create a better quality film. That led us to a heartbreaking decision this year; do we submit a poor film to make the deadline or do we work late into the night to satisfy our need to make the best film we can make. We picked quality.
Some of the issue that slowed us down:
- deciding on a location late
- moving location to location
- many scenes, many takes using many cameras
The best part was working with good friends and meeting new ones. Nobody on our team has any media experience, yet everyone acted like real pros.
The worst part, not being able to pass in our assignment on time after everyone worked so hard.
