The 48 Hour Film Project

The Chicago 48 Hour Film Project

What Happened During Your Weekend?

The Chicago filmmakers share stories from their wild weekend of filmmaking. (Blogging ended shortly after the filmmaking weekend.)

We Made It (in Michigan)!

It's an annual tradition for my friends and I to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps each summer to produce not 1, not 2 but 3 48 Hour Film Projects (Detroit, Chicago and another one TBD). The adreniline gets us past most of our personality issues and any other issues that threaten to tear us apart.

The past two years we've also done behind the scenes videos that have let us reflect on our process (or lack of one).

Here is this year's behind the scenes:

Stuff came up (Internet/Uploading issues) as it always does but we made it with a half hour to spare. Will it win? Probably not. Is it perfect? Definitely not! Is it done? YES.

Elements of Great Filmmaking

In my personal opinion, great filmmaking always comes down to seven key elements that are each mandatory in any project; creativity, open mindedness, collaboration, learning from others no matter how experienced they are, great teamwork, and great communication. The 48HFP exemplifies these like no other and is what I consider a staple for anyone that takes their career seriously. Thanks again for having us looking forward to seeing the brilliant work from my peers. EEA
