Ted Speaks Out

The opportunity to participate in the 48 Hour Music Video Project will always be an unforgettable one. It brought the visual and musical arts community together by hosting several interesting meet and greets and allowed Exit 10 the chance to widen its audience and create a high-quality professional video to promote its music.

By design or blind luck, we were teamed with DC Dogs, which by 7:30pm Friday night, we all realized it was "love at first sight". The discussion of the music and video ideas was lively, funny and extremely creative. When I walked in as a blind (literally visually-impaired) musician perhaps they felt a little daunted, but the meeting put all at ease. We sketched out an idea, talked about costumes and props and set things in motion for Saturday morning.

Ideas flowed from ideas and we continued shooting Sunday morning and by 2pm, we were back in the "Dog House", where Jonathan Zuck made me a sandwich then got right on his laptop doing the final special effect. Upstairs another DC Dogs team member was editing the previous day's work. DC Dogs were totally professional and so was Exit 10, making it possible to cop the Audience Choice Award and Best Video.

We wound up with a great video, a strong friendship and a desire to work together in the future. Participation in the 48 Hour Music Video Project has widened our listenership, increased exposure and will introduce our music to the West Coast. We are grateful to the organizers of the project, the bands and filmmakers we met and the brilliant crazies from DC Dogs. If you haven't tried it, you have no idea what you're missing!
