The weekend? July 14 - 16, 2017

The challenge? To make a film in only 48 hours!

Filmmakers from all over the Detroit, MI area will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will go up against films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2018 for a chance at the grand prize and an opportunity to screen at the Cannes Film Festival 2018, Court Métrage.

Kickoff Event

The 48 Hour Film Project: Detroit kicks off the filmmaking weekend at the new Ant Hall across the way from the Planet Ant Theater. This year, we continue with our double genre selection. Make sure to bring your team leader agreement.

It's a race to the finish line so don't be distracted by all the sounds and flashing lights. The drop-off  is at Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum. Look for the giant clock at 31005 Orchard Lake Road, Farmington Hills, Michigan 48334. It is right next to Buy Buy Baby and California Pizza Kitchen. Bring your films and all paperwork. Feel free to bring some quarters and check out this vintage arcade after a long weekend of filmmaking or get some sleep.

Join us at Orchid for our award ceremony on August 8th. We'll be handing out certificates and trophies to the best films in many categories. See if you film is the Best of Detroit. We'll hand out prizes to our winners.
