2017 Tour Grand Champion Film Crowned At This Year's FilmapaloozaTuesday, May 8, 2018
This year's Filmapalooza in Paris was a fantastic spectacle, and our biggest festival to date!
Over 450 filmmakers representing over 90 different cities around the world poured in to France for the 48HFP's annual film festival and global awards presentation. The city of Paris rolled out the red carpet for attendees as they experienced the sights and sounds of one of the world's most beautiful cities, and shared in the excitement and spirit that only comes from going to Filmapalooza.
This year's screenings were held at the Forum des images, a famous cinema in the French capital. By the end of the week over 120 of our top films from around the world were shown, including winners of our special genre film competitions and the Four Points Film Project. Moviegovers enjoyed the plush red velvet seats of the cinema's auditoriums, while reveling in the creativity and magic captured on screen. It was the perfect setting to share some truly incredible 48HFP films from all around the world.
But the highlight of the week for everyone was no doubt the Awards Ceremony at the famous Hotel de Ville. A place that most people will never even get to see anytime in their lives, the venue was more akin to a palace, with its beautifully ornate design and artwork hanging throughout the giant halls. It would be hard to imagine a more glamorous place to be drinking champagne and celebrating the incredible work of filmmakers from around the world. Watch the video above for a quick 2 minute recap of the awards ceremony.
This year's Filmapalooza ended, as all do, with the announcement of our global award-winning films. Applause echoed throughout the grand halls of the building as this year's winner was announced. Congratulations to FD Prod from Clermont-Ferrand for their film "La Grande Ourse", which was selected by our panel of judges to hold the title of Grand Champion.
