The Rome 48 Hour Film Project

What Happened During Your Weekend?

The Rome filmmakers share stories from their wild weekend of filmmaking. (Blogging ended shortly after the filmmaking weekend.)

The last ones to get in

We shot the film in the countryside near Rome, so the last day we were thinking about when would be the right time to head to the city. When we had just started rendering, we realized the dropoff was an hour earlier than we thought. So we jumped in the car, crossing our finger for the PC not to die before finishing the operation, and left. 20 minutes from the dropoff, quite close to the place, we found ourselves in huge traffic jam. At that point we were sure that the film was never going to be there, but then the driver put all of himself into it and drove on the side of the road, passing all the other cars, until we were finally out of it. In the end, at the beginning of the road to the center, we found a car in front of us and heard the countdown starting. I jumped out of the car when it was still moving, ran and got there right before the end of everything. I thought this kind of thing didn't happen in real life. We should make a movie about it!
