The challenge? To make a film in only 48 hours!

Filmmakers from all over the Adelaide, AU area will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours.

Write, shoot, and edit a short film over the weekend and see it PREMIERE on the BIG SCREEN!

All Welcome!  First-timer to Hobbyists to Amateurs to Professionals!

Take your filmmaking to the NEXT LEVEL!

Wherever you are currently in your filmmaking journey, the 48 Hour Film Project is a valuable next step!  

     •. Make your FIRST film... the first of many!

     •. Create a film (or another film!) for your reel

     •  Practice new techniques -- in a low-risk setting

     •. Find new filmmaking partners to work with, beginning on a (very!) short-term basis

     •  Create work to help show off your skills to find that next job!


The winning film will go up against films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2023 (in Los Angeles!) for a chance at the grand prize and an opportunity to screen at the Cannes Film Festival 2023 Short Film Corner!


Plus, new this year… the top three teams will be eligible for the soon-to-be-announced 48HFP “Yes We Cannes” challenge in December!

Join us for a special pre-competition not to be missed!
In this free workshop & networking event, Mark Knight will discuss screenwriting tips and best practices, and how to use the 48 Hour Film Project genre requirements to your advantage. In Mark’s words, “the rules were made to be followed.” In such a short production timeframe, story is the most important element of your film to get right.
Mark is a script and story consultant, and has developed television projects for Red Bull Media House, Canal +, BBC/BBC America, ITV, FX Canada, and The SyFy Chanel (US). His television work has included developing the anthology series "The 543", and "Mythic Tales" in Canada. Scripted reality programming in the UK and the original feature films "Harry's First Flight" and "Mission Belle". Mark has provided coverage to over 2500 scripts and consulted on over 200 projects.
This event will be held at Diverse-City, drinks and bar snacks will be available. **Please note that Diverse-City is a double vaccination venue** This is also a great opportunity to link up with a team if you haven’t already done so or to learn more about the 48HFP competition.

48HFP Indigenous & Multicultural Filmmakers Grant

To encourage diverse storytelling as part of the competition, we are pleased to offer the 48HFP Indigenous & Multicultural Filmmaker's Grant. This grant is open to Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse/Multicultural filmmakers residing in South Australia to enable them to participate in the Adelaide 48 Hour Film Project.

Four grant recipients will receive up to $500 in total to support the costs of the competition. This may include registration fee, equipment rental through ProAV Solutions, and/or accommodation or travel costs (for regional applicants). 

Submissions open today, Monday 18 July
Closing date is Monday 29 August at 11:59 pm. 
Successful and non-successful recipients will be notified by email by Friday 9 September
