Oscar Viewing Party

Sun, Feb 24, 2019 @ 7:00pm - 11:59pm
Christy's Irish Pub
261 Orange Street

It’s that time of year again when Hollywood recognizes the best films of the year along with the biggest and brightest stars!

The Oscar Night also means it’s the unofficial kickoff to 48 Hour Film Project New Haven season! And this year, we're teaming up with our good friends at NHdocs: The New Haven Documentary Film Festival to really open up our Oscar Viewing Party experience!

Join us at Christy's Irish Pub in downtown New Haven as we watch, laugh, and cheer along with the 91st Academy Awards! The red carpet starts at 7:00 with the Awards kicking off somewhere around 8:00. You can be sure we will be there offering our own running commentary throughout the broadcast!

Feel free to come dressed up & see if you get on the Best Dressed list! Christy's will be having Oscar Food & Drink Specials for us to get in the Hollywood spirit of the night!

In true #NHV48HFP fashion we will be handing out ballots and asking you to guess the winners. The guest with the most correct picks will win a movie prize package!* With #NHDocs around we will be adding in other games as well this year. It's an interactive way to watch the Oscar with other film lovers!

*Ballots must be entered before the first award to be eligible.

Stay tuned for more info as we get closer to the big night!

The #NHV48HFP is Connecticut’s premiere film-making challenge, giving teams of filmmakers just 48 hours to write, film, and edit a short film. The event pushes the boundary of creativity and creates an unforgettable memory. Come network with fellow filmmakers and movie enthusiasts as we take in Hollywood’s biggest night.
Filming July 26-28, 2019. Screening the following week.

The #NHDocs seeks to build a sense of community among documentary filmmakers from the greater New Haven area (and we are quite inclusive in our reach!). Many of these filmmakers work as independents, some teach at universities in the area, while others rely on various kinds of day jobs. They look forward to showing work that has been or will be shown at prominent International Film Festivals, but will also show work being done in the city’s schools and by students at nearby universities. NHDocs is resolutely democratic in embracing the documentary tradition on the local as well as the international level.
