The weekend? July 26 - 28, 2019

The challenge? To make a film in only 48 hours!

Filmmakers from all over the New Orleans, LA area will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will go up against films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2020 for a chance at the grand prize and an opportunity to screen at the Cannes Film Festival 2020 Short Film Corner.

Kickoff Event

Bring signed Team Leader Agreement 6pm and prepare to pull your Genre from a hat. Receive your Elements Required - Character, Line and Prop.

Depart at 7pm to begin writing your script and shooting your film.

Why make a 48 Hour Film this July?

The winner for Best Film will receive $500 in cash and Vegas Pro Editing Software.

The winner for Best Editing will receive a software bundle from Vegas Pro, Sound Forge, and Acid Pro.

Additional prizes will be awarded to winning categories including Movie Magic Screenwriter 6 Software and WriterDuet Scriptwriting Software.

O'Connell Music will be offering one free download of any song in their music library to each of the U.S. teams. Teams will also have access to pitches and auditions done by potential team members to help build their team.

Editors -- Please read and format your projects according to these guidelines:


-Apple ProRes 422 (not HQ) or DNxHD SQ codecs preferred. H.264 codec allowed (recommended bitrate of 30mb/s).


-DO NOT use ANY data DVD Media! 


-Please submit flash drives only. No external hard drives will be returned.


-Shooting and delivering at 23.98fps (progressive, NON-interlaced) is strongly encouraged. Submissions delivered at 30fps/interlaced will be converted to 23.98fps/progressive for screening. 


-Anything shot at 4:3 (standard) or 2.40:1 (anamorphic) aspect ratios will be letterboxed/pillarboxed in order to fit a 16:9 raster for screening.
