Filmmakers from all over the Reno, NV area will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours.

Write, shoot, and edit a short film over the weekend and see it PREMIERE on the BIG SCREEN!

All Welcome!  First-timer to Hobbyists to Amateurs to Professionals!

Take your filmmaking to the NEXT LEVEL!

Wherever you are currently in your filmmaking journey, the 48 Hour Film Project is a valuable next step!  

     •. Make your FIRST film... the first of many!

     •. Create a film (or another film!) for your reel

     •  Practice new techniques -- in a low-risk setting

     •. Find new filmmaking partners to work with, beginning on a (very!) short-term basis

     •  Create work to help show off your skills to find that next job!

The winning film will go up against films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2023 (in Los Angeles!) for a chance at the grand prize and an opportunity to screen at the Cannes Film Festival 2023 Short Film Corner!

Plus, new this year… the top three teams will be eligible for the soon-to-be-announced 48HFP “Yes We Cannes” challenge in December!

Image Perspectives out of Carson City is giving a class on how to create realistic looking injuries. From cuts and burns, to black eyes and everything in between. Image Perspective provides a hands-on two hour class where you can practice making your team members look like they have been through the ringer, so that when it's time to shoot, you have everything you need to make your actors have the injuries that help you sell the story.  This is a paid class. The cost is $80.00 per person to help cover the cost of materials that make this class possible. Space in this class is limited so reserve your spot today. 

Lighting 101: A Quick Workshop for Lighting Film

There is no one right way to employ lighting design. A scene could be lit several different ways by different cinematographers, each altering the mood and overall impact of the image. In this workshop we will go through the basics so that you can decide how to best fit the lighting you have to your project. 

Building A Team

This is a social networking event where the acting community of Reno can meet with talented filmmakers, audio engineers, directors and cinematographers. In order to facilitate an environment to  start building friendships and teams.

The competition begins, before you start your film, you will need at least one person from your team at Kickoff. Each team will receive their Genre, Character, Prop, and  Line of Dialogue. During the Kickoff Event a taco bar will be provided, along with chips and salsa, eat up because for the next 48 Hours food will be a low priority.
