The weekend? Returning Summer 2021
The challenge? To make a film in only 48 hours!
from all over the Washington, DC area will compete to see who can make
the best short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will go up
against films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2022 for a chance at
the grand prize and an opportunity to screen at the Cannes Film
Festival 2022 Short Film Corner.

Teams from around the world are invited to participate in this online 48-hour filmmaking competition.
Friday, May 21--receive your filmmaking assignment by email
Sunday, May 23--submit your film through our online portal
Monday, June 7--top films stream online for audience vote
In the first round of judging, local judges will select city winners. Then all city winning films go online to determine the country winners. From there, the country winners go head to head to determine the four top films. A panel of international judges will choose the winner.

In May of 2001, Mark Ruppert (Creator/ Executive Producer), Liz Langston (Co-Founder/ Executive Producer) and Christina Ruppert (Director of Operations) were all part of the team The Big Ouch. It was one of 10 teams in the inaugural 48 Hour Film Project and the required prop was a severed body part.
