Filmapalooza 2017 Announced!Wednesday, October 26, 2016

The Pacific Northwest will see an influx of talented filmmakers in early March when the 48 Hour Film Project's annual awards festival, Filmapalooza, comes to Seattle!
We're finalizing plans for a great 4 day event that culminates in our annual Awards Ceremony. With more than 150 films screening and attendees expected from every corner of the globe, you will definitely want to make plans to join us.

Seattle has a history deeply entrenched in film, music, and the arts. It was the birthplace of the grunge music scene in the 90's that birthed bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains. The city is home to four major art museums, over 100 commercial art galleries, and numerous artists' studios, and it is also home base for some major corporations such as Amazon, Microsoft, and of course, Starbucks. Despite being known as such a cutting edge city for business and technology, Seattle also sports some of the most beautiful landscapes in the U.S., with beautiful mountain ranges, some of the tallest and oldest forests in the country, and the beautiful Pacific Coastline setting a gorgeous backdrop for their many residents and visitors.
Seattle has been a major player in the U.S. film industry since the 1930's, with titles like Sleepless In Seattle, The Ring, Safety Not Guaranteed, and The Hand That Rocks The Cradle all filmed in the Seattle metropolitan area. The Seattle International Film Festival is the largest attended film festival in North America, and we'll be holding our Filmapalooza screenings in one of their theaters.
