The 48 Hour Film Project

Are you an animator or always wanted to try animating. The 48 Hour Film Project has a competition specifically for you. You will have 4 days to create an animated short film. All types of animation are acceptable (including live action composited with animation).

O Four Points Film Challenge - antes conhecido como National Film Challenge - foi fundado por todos os cineastas de todo o mundo que não tinham acesso a um evento do 48HFP na sua cidade. 

O conceito é o mesmo do 48HFP, mas o Kickoff e o Dropoff são feitos online, por isso a localização não é um entrave.

The 48 Hour Pink celebrates LGBT+ themed films, by connecting filmmakers and LGBT+ film fans. As with the flagship competition we all know and love, filmmakers will create short films in only 48 hours - with required elements and all.

Films made for 48 Hour Pink will be screened at the Roze filmdagen in Amsterdam. The winner of the 48 Hour Pink will be screened in cinemas across the Netherlands as part of the Gay Night program. On top of that the Roze filmdagen will support you in getting your film to international film festivals.

48HFP goes all the way 360/VR. The 48 Hour Film 360VR Project is similar to the flagship competition we all know and love - except in this exciting weekend you create a 360 film or even an interactive experience!!

O 48 Hour Music Video Project é um concurso criativo onde bandas / músicos se associam a cineastas para criarem um videoclip em 48 horas. 

Este é o derradeiro desafio de criatividade e cooperação.

The 48 Hour Film Politics & Comedy Project is very similar to the regular 48HFP - the biggest difference being that all of the short films must be comedies or political thrillers.

From the daily intrigue of government to the ridiculous, often comical, behavior on Capitol Hill, our special competition asks you to put Washington in the spotlight.

The past 18 months have been a challenge, but the 48HFP is coming back. We are returning to select cities in an online format, featuring an online Kickoff, online Drop Off and live streaming Premiere Screenings of the films.

US VIRTUAL 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT

All Events are Virtual!

The traditional 48 Hour Film Project was canceled in your city this year, but the US Virtual 48HFP offers you and your team an opportunity to make a film and possibly be selected for Filmapalooza.

The US VIrtual 48:
Is open ONLY to teams in cities where there was no 48 Hour Film Project in 2021 Places each team in a streaming/judging group based on geography--30 teams per group (max) Features streaming of all films and awards--including the Audience Award Screens the Best Film from each group at Filmapalooza The health and safety of your team are always important—and of particular emphasis this year. We provide teams with a copy of “Safe Sets Recommendations” that cover most aspects of making a film. We recommend that at least one member of your team completed the online Safe Sets course. (The course allows you to go at your own speed and usually takes 15-30 minutes to complete.) For more info, click here:

Streaming/Judging Groups
Teams will be placed in geographic groups of up to 30 teams. Each group will send the Best Film to Filmapalooza!

NOTE: If there are 8 or more teams from a city, those teams will form their own separate city group. (e.g., if there are 9 teams from Savannah, there will be a Savannah judging pool. And the winner will be the Best Film of the Savannah 48HFP!)

All the Elements of the 48HFP

· Kickoff with two genres to choose from and a character, prop and line of dialogue to include in your film

· Drop Off on Sunday night—this year you can upload your film and paperwork

· A premiere screening online—see your film and enjoy other filmmakers’ films

· Awards Announcement—with one film from each group going to Filmapalooza

Eligibility
The US Virtual 48HFP is open only to teams from the official list of “US Virtual 48HFP" Cities. Our definition of “from” means that one of the following applies to your team:

a) one or more members of the team live in the MSA (metropolitan statistical area) of the city, and/or

b) the team has participated in the city’s competition in the past.

Not only will the Best Films of the US Virtual 48HFP screen at Filmapalooza, but they will also be eligible for the annual global 48HFP awards! In addition, they will compete to be selected for the 48HFP Screening Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner!
