Filmmakers from all over the Richmond, VA area will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will go up against films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2020 for a chance at the grand prize and an opportunity to screen at the Cannes Film Festival 2020 Short Film Corner.

Our second and final Happy Hour Networking Mixer will be held at Baja Bean, 1520 W. Main St., Richmond on Wednesday, June 19 from 6-8 p.m. This event is for everyone interested in the RVA 48HFP in every capacity from cinephile to team leader. It's especially for all of you writers, DPs, editors, crew, hair/makeup, wardrobe and actors out there wanting to be part of the RVA 48HFP but don't have a team. Don't miss your chance to mix and mingle with us!

48HFP Casting Call

Are you a team leader needing access to talent to cast your film? Are you talent looking to be in a 48 Hour Film? Then come to the only 48HFP Audition taking place Tuesday, June 25 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Mobelux, 1635 W. Broad Street. There's plenty of parking across the street at Lowe's.

Team Leaders…
1. must be registered for the 48 ( 
2. must send an e-mail to to tell us you’re coming.
3. may bring your camera if you’d like.

1. must prepare a 1-minute monologue to perform in front of the filmmakers.
2. must e-mail your name, phone number and time requested (5-minute intervals between 6:30-8:30 p.m.) to Response indicates consent to audition being filmed. You will receive a confirmation e-mail providing your scheduled audition time.
3. should also bring multiple hard copies of headshots and acting resumes to distribute. 

Anyone present at the audition who is not pre-registered will not be permitted to attend.

We expect all audition slots to fill! If you are scheduled then subsequently need to cancel your audition, kindly let us know ASA so someone else can take your slot.

Kickoff Event

Each participating team must have a representative at the official Kickoff Event of the 48 Hour Film Project.

At the event, each group must submit a complete Team Leader's Agreement, signed by its team leader. A team may not participate without submitting this agreement.

Each group will choose the genre of its film in a random drawing. Each group will also be assigned required elements that must appear in its film (character, prop, line of dialogue).

Dropoff Event

The participating group/team must complete its film/video work in time to deliver on Sunday, July 14 by 7:30pm.

Only works that meet the deadline will be officially part of the competition. All films received on Sunday (on-time and late) will be screened.
