The weekend? June 28 - 30, 2019
The challenge? To make a film in only 48 hours!
Filmmakers from all over the Houston, TX area will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will go up against films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2020 for a chance at the grand prize and an opportunity to screen at the Cannes Film Festival 2020 Short Film Corner.
Please note that we are meeting in Rudyard's event room upstairs.
Representatives from each team will gather to draw their genre and learn this year's prop, character & line dialogue.
- Please limit yourself to only one representative per team.
- The representative may be any member of the team - it does not have to be the team leader.
- The representative must bring the Team Leader's Agreement to kickoff. The agreement must be signed by the team leader.
- Everyone will be released at 7:00pm to begin working on their films.
Rudz has a band show in that room starting at 8:00pm, so once we release folks to start working on their films, everyone will be required to clear out. If you would like to stay there to begin brainstorming on your films, you will need to move downstairs.
The Dropoff event is open to the full team. And even if you didn't
participate this year, you're still welcome to come join in on the fun!!
Join us to help cheer on our weary 48 hour filmmakers as they cross the finish line with their brand new cinematic masterpieces!! Then stick around to find out how the weekend went for everyone and trade "war stories".
Bring your appetite with you because Jax has a full menu and bar. So sit back with a drink and good food while comparing the weekend with your fellow weekend film warriors!!
Please note that we will be accepting films in the event room
located inside Jax Grill (on Shepherd just south of I-10). Once you
enter the restaurant, you should see the restroom entrance on opposite
wall. Go around the corner just past that and the event room will be on
The Houston 48 Hour Film Project challenged teams of
filmmakers to create a short film from scratch in just a single
weekend. At the start of the weekend, each team drew a genre out of hat
and was assigned a character, prop and line of dialogue to include -
the rest was up to them. Join as we celebrate their efforts in the
Premiere Screening of this year's entries.
Here are some of the teams that will be making a short film for Houston in only 48 hours.
