The weekend? July 14 - 16, 2017

The challenge? To make a film in only 48 hours!

Filmmakers from all over the Richmond, VA area will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will go up against films from around the world at Filmapalooza 2018 for a chance at the grand prize and an opportunity to screen at the Cannes Film Festival 2018, Court Métrage.

Happy Hour

This RVA 48HFP Happy Hour is an opportunity for film teams to mix and mingle, and for those not yet attached to a team to find one to join!


Have questions? Not yet registered? Lisa Giles, your Richmond Producer, will be on hand to answer any questions and help get you registered on site.

And what would a happy hour be without beer and food? The Veil is a craft brewery in Scott's Addition that focuses on hop forward beers, high gravity and barrel aging, lagers, wild ales, and spontaneous fermentation. Six ounce pours will be available for $5 + tax and 12 ounce pours at $7 + tax.

AND there will be a food truck on site!

It began as a co-op in a Richmond garage and as a production brewery, the mission remains to produce and celebrate exceptional and ambitious beers with the ever-growing craft beer community.

Kickoff Event

Each participating team must have a representative at the official Kickoff Event of the 48 Hour Film Project.

At the event, each group must submit a complete Team Leader's Agreement, signed by its team leader. A team may not participate without submitting this agreement.

Each group will choose the genre of its film in a random drawing. Each group will also be assigned required elements that must appear in its film (character, prop, line of dialogue).

If you are unable to find street parking, there are numerous lots nearby at 4th & E. Franklin Streets, 5th and E. Grace Streets and 2nd between E. Grace and E. Franklin Streets.

Dropoff Event

The participating group/team must complete its film/video work in time to deliver it to Triple Crossing Brewing on Sunday, July 16 by 7:30pm.

Only works that meet the deadline will be officially part of the competition. All films received on Sunday (on-time and late) will be screened.
