INFO FOR ACTORS
This is your chance to get in front of multiple local production teams at once. Please come prepared to showcase your best work!
We have 24 slots. Register in advance to secure yours.
Prepare a 1-minute monologue of your choice. Choose something that best showcases your range and fits a cinematic style. Bring a physical copy of your headshot and resume. These don’t need to be professional prints—snapshots are fine—but they must have your name, cell phone, and email address printed on both. Remember, this is a FILM audition, not theater. Keep your performance grounded for the camera. You are welcome to dress the part or bring a small prop if it helps your performance. Be prepared to answer questions from film teams after your monologue. They want to get to know you! Note: The audition may be photographed or recorded. By participating, you are granting permission for your image and performance to be captured.

Yep! We're a month earlier this year.
This is it—the official start of Richmond's favorite annual filmmaking rite of passage! In just 48 hours, dozens of short films will be born, and it all starts right here. At the Kickoff, the energy is electric as teams from all over the RVA gather to officially srtart the competition. This is where your creative fate is sealed!
The Main Event: This event is the mandatory launch point for all registered teams.
The Drawing: Every team will draw their Genre at random. Will you be making a Musical? A Western? A Silent Film?
The Required Elements: To ensure every film is made during the 48-hour window, we will reveal this year’s required Character, Prop, and Line of Dialogue.
The Rules: We’ll go over the final logistics and safety guidelines before the clock officially starts.
Who Should Attend?
At least one member of each team is required to be present to check in and receive assignments. While only one person is required, the Kickoff is much more fun when the whole team comes to soak up the atmosphere and brainstorm the second the genre is drawn!
Once the elements are revealed, the clock starts ticking.
